Messages from Our Ministers

Kristin Woodburke: Lighting of the Lenten candles.

Introit:

And on this path, the gates of holiness are open wide,
And on this path, the gates of holiness are open wide,
And on this path, the gates of holiness are open wide,
Open wide! Open wide! Open wide, the gates are open wide!

So enter in, the gates of holiness are open wide,
So enter in, the gates of holiness are open wide,
So enter in, the gates of holiness are open wide,
Open wide! Open wide! Open wide, the gates are open wide!

Lent Prayer:

Loving God, as the smoke from this candle rises to you, so do our humble prayers. Our journey these days is also one of contradictions: our world is full of fear and sorrow, but we’re also thankful for moments of great hope and joy that have emerged. Help us, O God, as we navigate the rough and ever changing terrain of our present crisis. May we remember that through Jesus, you share our human experiences, that he also walked a road that was not easy, towards moments of terrible pain and cruel violence and also moments of great holiness and deep abundant love. Comfort us, fill us with your grace and love, and encourage hope to spring with us. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, our companion and guide for the journey. Amen.
